We were rather worried about the food and my gluten intolerance, but we had no reason to be. The food is freshly cooked and my choice of food was altered for me and it was delicious. The portion size is excellent too, and I think that this is the first of many visits. Thoroughly recommended. I had the gammon and mushrooms 'pie', made with a delicious mashed potato topping and my wife had the homemade burger with chips and a side salad. Wonderful thank you chef.
High quality building with high quality staff. Enjoyed several visits to the Northumberland Arms now and look forward to several more. The rooms have decent quality furnishings and have slept well when staying there. The drinks are not unreasonably priced... The food has been a bit variable in quality last couple visits but always enjoyable. Some odd combinations being tried and didn't quite work. But overall, would highly recommend a visit. In nice weather, there are sitting areas across the road where you can take your drinks for a relaxing moment of reflection.

Called in on the off chance of a table for my husband's birthday. The lovely Laura was very helpful and gave a good recommendation of the Scotch Broth soup for starter which I had and it was delicious. My husband had the black pudding and a type of chutney which he enjoyed. For main I had salmon Wellington and vegetables which was extremely nice and my husband had steak with peppercorn sauce, onion rings and chunky chips which he really enjoyed. For dessert he had vanilla rice pudding and mine was rhubarb cheesecake. Both were delicious. It was a 3 course meal for £21.95 and well worth it. At the end they brought a lovely board with fudge, cinder toffee, and crumble with a sauce saying Happy Birthday which was a very nice gesture. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The staff were very nice especially the lovely Laura and would highly recommend a visit but might be best to book although we were lucky and got a good table next to the fire. 5*
Superb home cooked food and friendly service for our family. Don’t be put off by the pub sitting on the main road the food was freshly cooked and well presented!

Amazing staff, lovely place and the most wonderful food I've had in a long time. We were in the area as a family of 14 for my mum's birthday with 5 kids from 3 to 11 and one adult in a wheelchair. Everything was utterly wonderful. It was pretty much a fine dining that were happy with well behaved kids. Some other diners even kindly commented how lovely our kids were behaved. So I think their guests are pretty lovely too. Thanks for helping to make my mum's bi0thday special!
One of the best inn's on the East Coast of Northumberland. The bar and restaurant food is second to none, the majority of the food sourced from the owners own farm, or other local sources. Sunday lunches are superb, but book in advance or be left standing - the restaurant is a renowned place to eat. The traditionally styled public bar is popular with locals, very welcoming and the staff friendly. The hotel accommodation to the rear of the pub is charming, immaculately clean and set in beautiful countryside! We stayed 2 nights when visiting family and thought £80 per night with an excellent breakfast included was very good value for money. Easy to find, (500 yards off the A1) and with ample parking to front and rear, I highly recommend.
